Joseph Ellis - Historian

To gain historical perspective on current challenges to democracy, we spoke to author and historian Joseph Ellis. In this interview, Professor Ellis covers such subjects as national service and the importance of revisiting the ideas of the Founders. 


Meet Joseph
Joseph J. Ellis is the Ford Foundation Professor of History at Mount Holyoke College. Among his many books are the 1997 National Book Award winner “American Sphinx: The Character of Thomas Jefferson,” and “Founding Brothers: The Revolutionary Generation,” winner of the 2001 Pulitzer Prize in History.
